The finals organised by Chou Sing Chu Foundation, General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry and International Chinese Cultural Exchange Federation held on 15th December 2019 at Bookfest@Singapore was a great success!
We would like to express our biggest thanks to all participants, parents and judges for attending 5th Annual Spring Festival Couplets Competition Calligraphy Category Finals.
For the Spring Festival Couplets Calligraphy Category, the judging team is formed by Mr Choo Thiam Siew (Executive Director/Chief Executive Director of International Chinese Cultural Exchange Federation & President of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry), Mr Wong Joon Tai (Artistic Director at Nanyang Calligraphy Centre and Editor of The Nanyang Calligraphy Magazine) and Mr Heng Wei Chia (Chairman of The Bishan Chinese Calligraphy Club and ShiCheng Calligraphy and Seal-Carving Society Director).
For the Composing Category, the judging team is formed by Mr Choo Thiam Siew (Director of International Chinese Cultural Exchange Federation & President of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry), Mr Tan Guan Seng (Secretary of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry, Secretary of Xin Sheng Poet Society, Tropical Literature and Art Club Research Director & Council Member of United Chinese Library) & Mr Li Zhong (Winner for various competition including 2016 Spring Festival Couplets Competition, Member of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry and Xin Sheng Poet Society).
The judges also decided to use composing category 1st prize winner Lim Tong Beng’s composed piece as the theme for Open Category Calligraphy Competition.

Spring Festival couplets are the most commonly seen examples of Chinese couplets, and putting on auspicious couplets to welcome the Chinese New Year is a traditional Chinese custom.
The 5th Spring Festival Couplets Competition is now open for submissions!
The competition is divided into two categories:
Submission deadline: 15 November 2019 (Friday), 4pm
The Prize Giving Ceremony and Calligraphy Finals will be held on 15 December 2019 (Saturday).
