A Poetic Narrative

About This Event

Poetic Narrative Exhibition of Lu Po-yeh’s Malayan Sketches & Singaporean Sketches (Newly Edited an Annotated)

About this exhibition

In the 1950s, Singapore’s World Book Company published several titles of the late renowned local writer Lu Po-yeh’s Singaporean Sketches (1953), and Malayan Sketches and its sequel (both in 1954), which quickly became classics of local Chinese literature. As further proof that a good book can definitely withstand the test of time, Chou Sing Chu Foundation (CSCF), the non-profit cultural organisation based in Singapore, published the updated versions of two of Lu Po-yeh’s classics in 2019. Spending three years to bring these classics up to date with new reading guides and more than 200,000 words of annotations, CSCF’s editorial team aims to introduce the contemporary readers to the amazing talent of this writer who passed away at the height of his literary career.
