Spring Couplets Composing Sharing Session

About This Event:

The General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry and Chou Sing Chu Foundation will be organising a Spring Festival Couplets Sharing Session with Mr Li Zhong. Get to know the basic rules and elements of couplets, spot common mistakes and explore how to give a good start in composing Spring Festival Couplets. Join us to find out more.

* This sharing session will be conducted in mandarin.

Speaker:Mr Li Zhong (Winner for various competition including 2016 Spring Festival Couplets Competition, Member of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry and Xin Sheng Poet Society)

Host:Mr Choo Thiam Siew (Director of Chou Sing Chu Foundation, Director of International Chinese Cultural Exchange Federation & President of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry)

There will also be a half an hour FAQ time.

During the FAQ session, we are honoured to have the judges for Spring Couplets Competition Composing Category Dr Lam Lap (Associate Professor, Department of Chinese Studies, National University of Singapore & Vice President of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry) and Ms Lin Zi (President of Xin Sheng Poet Society & Vice-President of General Society for Chinese Classical Poetry) to be with us to review your composed couplets.

If you are interested in submitting your composed couplets for review during the FAQ session, do submit via the application form or email to admin@chouscfoundation.org  (Subject: 撰写春联分享会2019现场点评习作) by 12 September 2019 (Thursday).

  • *Couplets submitted for review need not be related to spring festival theme.
  • Couplets author will not be revealed.
  • Reviewed couplets pieces will not be eligible for “5th Annual Spring Festival Couplets Competition”.
