In “The Age of Contentment”, Mr Tung Chiau wrote that even the most frustrating problems in life will fade away eventually.
Similarly, we hope that the fog in our lives can be lifted by the tranquillity in literature, just like the long awaited clear blue sky after the storm.
After months of preparation by all the staff at Chou Sing Chu Foundation, Sing Chu Literature Lectures Chapter Two featuring renowned author Mr Tung Chiau took place on the evening of 29 October 2015.
We would like to express our utmost gratitude to Mr Tung Chiao for having travelled all the way from Hong Kong in his first ever overseas public lecture to share his thoughts on ‘A New Era of Words’, the theme of his lecture.
We would also like to thank veteran journalist Mr Toh Lam Huat for his insightful views in the candid literary exchange with Mr Tung, and our host – the young and talented writer, poet and Deputy Executive Director of the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, Dr Tan Chee Lay.
Sing Chu Literature Lectures aims to regularly invite outstanding individuals from the Chinese literary community to share their journeys with fellow literature lovers. We are grateful and humbled by the overwhelming response to the recent Sing Chu Literature Lectures Chapter Two. Above all, we would like to express our gratitude to all our guests who had to rush over from work in all corners of Singapore to spend two hours of their precious time with us.
Last but not least, we would like to thank our supporting partner Popular Holdings, our sponsor Chinese Language and Culture Fund, and our media partners Capital 95.8FM and Lianhe Zaobao for their strong support. We look forward to reaching greater heights with all in the future!
